Great news for our community! We have access to LOCAL produce….directly from local family owned farms. This “Mobile Farmers Market” is from McIntosh SEED.

WHY BUY LOCAL? Locally grown food not only tastes better, but fresh food retains its nutrients, unlike produce that has traveled a long distance. Local produce is a great way to build a stronger coastal community by supporting local family owned farms. Buying local food supports a clean environment and benefits wildlife because these small farms are places where the resources of fertile soil and clean water are valued. (Amen!) Buying local is a way to keep money within our coastal community, and also helps local farms teach future generation how to grow food.

What is McIntosh SEED? http://www.mcintoshseed.org McIntosh SEED is a local, non-profit organization working to support small family farmers GA. They also run a youth employment and skills training program, where some of this great fresh food is grow, a food pantry serving 150 families in McIntosh County, youth and adult empowerment and job skills development trainings as well as gardening workshops, and more. Their mission statement is: “McIntosh SEED works to strengthen low-wealth families and improve neglected rural communities through asset-based economic development, education reform, empowerment, and environmental preservation.”
